Hi, I am Katie, a multi-disciplinary artist, living in London UK.
I practice 'multi-passioned creativity' -which is to say, I like to try it all. I make whatever I feel pulled towards -whether that's paintings, clay sculptures, digital illustrations, or six-foot crepe paper flowers for my friend's wedding. And as a result, I have multiple projects on the go always.
There are, however, two elements that I consistently introduce to my pieces, and those are: bright, bold colours, and keeping things small. Hence the name 'Maximalist Miniaturist' (this was actually a name a friend came up with at a party, and I loved it immediately!)
I haven't painted a picture bigger than 5 x 5 inches in years. Working small lets me chase a level of detail that feels almost obsessive. And colour is a non-negotiable for me: bold, bright, often with metallic foil worked in. I love rainbows.
I want the work to feel happy, because that's honestly how I feel making it.

Right now I mostly paint animals, landscapes, and still life. Everything else I do, from party decorations to worn pieces to digital prints, comes from the same place: curiosity, colour, and the pleasure of making something by hand.
My work isn't photorealistic. I like softer edges, a bit of looseness in the paint, while still keeping things recognisably, faithfully real — someone's cat, someone's kitchen, a polaroid remembered in paint.
I am a proud neurodivergent woman, and explore my neurodivergent mind, and other aspects of mental health, through my art, including the role of over- and under- stimulation, living with anxiety and depression, and how I've developed a creative practice to support my health ongoing.
The core themes I like to explore are:
Mental health and disability awareness Embracing ourselves for who we are
Self love and care for others Celebrating each other
& Showing one another how we uniquely experience the world
