IN THE LOOP

Co-curated by London-based artists Lee Hybrid Desire and wildlife artist and environmentalist Jane Mutiny, 'In The Loop' was a group exhibition featuring brand new work from 30 women and non-binary artists from across the UK.

The central premise was re-purposing waste boxes from Loop graffiti spray paints to create any form of art, to highlight environmental impact and sustainability in art.

True to form, I went small, and made a mini graffiti house. To me, street art means community, and community art is powerful. A disused warehouse can become a hub for expression, sharing ideas, calling out to others, trying out art, commemorating...

This piece is about community, how we can find it, and how there is space for all of us. Safe community allows us to discover our authentic selves, and figure out how to live out versions of what we consider to be worthy lives. We will need our inclusive communities even more in the years to come.

At the private view on October 2nd, each of the other artists present contributed to the final piece by 'tagging' the empty spaces on the piece, so the piece was finished by contributions from the artist community brought together by this show.
